FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No, most of the time you do not need a doctor's referral to see a podiatrist.

However, if you are eligible to be covered by any of the following, then you will need to obtain a doctor's referral before your appointment:

  • Department of Veteran Affair's
  • CDM/EPC Medicare Program (Chronic Disease Management Scheme or Enhanced Primary Care)
  • WorkCover

Can I claim a Medicare rebate?

The only way to claim a Medicare rebate is if you are eligible for services under the Chronic Disease Management Scheme or Enhanced Primary Care Program.  This entitles those with a chronic illness up to 5 allied health services in a calendar year.   These 5 visits can be spread across podiatry, physiotherapy, diabetes educator, dietician etc.  You will need a new referral from you GP each year.

The Medicare rebate is currently $55.10.

Can I claim on my private health fund?

Yes, if you have podiatry cover as part of your extra's package.  You will have to contact your  health fund to determine if you will be covered for podiatry, and if so, how much you will be covered for.  Please contact us if you require item numbers to make this process easier for you.

Your podiatrist will provide you with a receipt at the end of the consultation, so that you can then submit it to your health fund to claim a rebate.

Do you participate in My Aged Care packages?

Yes we can.

Please ask your Case Manager to contact us on your behalf and we'll work it out from there.

Do you treat NDIS clients?

Yes. We regularly provide services to patients who are on a Self Managed Plan or who have a Care Plan Manager.

Podiatry is classified as a Therapeutic Support.

DVA Gold and White Card Holders

If you have a Gold card, you will need a referral (D904) from your regular GP.   All services on a Gold card are fully funded by DVA - meaning there is no fee for you to pay.

If you have a White card, please check with DVA if you have are covered for podiatry services and obtain a referral (D904) from you GP.

Should I be nervous about treatment?

No, our podiatrist is highly experienced and will quickly make you feel comfortable.  If you are concerned about anything, please let your podiatrist know so they can help ease any concern.

What do I need to do to prepare for your visit?

If you require a referral please have it ready at the time of consultation or alternatively you can email or fax a copy to us prior to your appointment.

Your podiatrist will ask you to sit on a comfortable chair and they will handle the rest.  Easy!
